Dear Grams,
First let me say: congratulations! I know these past few months haven't been easy. However, you conquered it like a champ.
When I first found out that you had ovarian cancer, I didn't know what to think or how to feel. I can tell you this, though: I had no doubts in my mind that you wouldn't see it through. No matter what life throws your way, you manage to take it and make something beautiful out of it. This cancer was no exception.
Not only were you an inspiration to me and our family, but to other members of the cancer center. Even when you were feeling your worst, you managed to have a smile on your face and greet the other patients. Your contagious smile made it's way throughout the building from the door man, to the security officers, to the receptionist, to the other patients, to the nurses, to the doctors, to everyone.
Over the past twenty years, I've learned a lot from you. You taught me how to help others, how to fight for what I believe in, and how to love. Over the past couple of months, you taught me the importance of optimism. There is such a strong value in possessing optimism. When one is optimistic, success is not far away. Your optimism was key in fighting cancer. My optimism will be key in making a difference in the world: helping others, fighting for what I believe in, and loving others.
Once again, congratulations! You earned it. You will continue to be an inspiration to me and our family each and everyday. I am so proud of you. Never lose your optimism; it looks great on you.
Love,
Guilianna
