Today I'm going to be sharing with you my stationary haul for school along with some organization tips. It starts tomorrow. Yikes!
Here's my backpack for this year. I really like it. Very mature vibe. For the past few years I went with Vera Bradley, I was ready for a change. I believe this backpack retails for about $60. I got it at a shop in Walt Disney World. You can check out my haul by clicking here.
(Left to right): As far as writing utensils go, I need mechanical pencils. It doesn't matter what brand or anything, just as long as they're mechanical pencils. As far as pens go, I'm a little more picky. I love the Pentel's R.S.V.P ball point pens. Is anyone else picks about their pens? I also picked up the InkJoy pens by Paper Mate. Pens that write in different colors will help you stay organized. The same goes for those highlighters- I use them to highlight important notes. It helps me focus on the main concept when studying. Index cards are my personal study technique. I have all of my Spanish vocabulary words from last year. May I add, I finished with an A. Lastly, I picked up sticky notes and a flash drive for my computer projects.
*I recommend only taking 1/2 of the supplies- take 2 pencils, 2 pens, and 2 highlighters. Leave the rest in your desk at home. In January I like to switch out my supplies so it's fresh for the second half of the year. It's a great way to stay organized.
This is my pencil case for this year. It is so cute! I am absolutely in love with it.
ORGANIZATION TIP: Use post it notes when you read novels for class. These will help for writing essays and such. I did this last year, and girl let me tell you, I wrote my essay within two nights.
STUDY TIP: During study halls and open periods test yourself with flashcards. Keep them in a container to keep from misplacing throughout the year. You can use them to prepare for final exams.
Fancy math classes call for a fancy calculator. Haha.
ORGANIZATION TIP: Color code! All classes should have a specific color. (Mine has stayed the same throughout middle school.
Newspaper- Orange
Honors Algebra II- Purple
Academic Modern World Studies- Red
Honors English 10- Blue
Academic Biology- Green
Spanish II- Black
My mom bough a label maker. It really helps me stay organized throughout the school year. You can also choose really cool borders. I chose flowers- girly, totes me. Right?
That concludes my haul. I just carry a folder and a notebook for every class. My school also provides an agenda for me so I don't have to worry about that. For more organization tips check out Katie's post. I found it very helpful:
As you can tell from the title of this blog post, I am going to be sharing with you some of my back to school "stuff." I'm so excited to be sharing it with you. Enjoy! x
Clothing & Accessories
American Eagle is the place to be. Honestly, 80% of my wardrobe is American Eagle. I decided to start off with this maroon sweater. It's so soft; I love the material. I want to pair this with some leggings and boots- the definition of fall.
I love this cream sweater for simple days. A pair of blue jeans and a statement necklace, done, I'm out the door.
They were having a jewelry sale: by one get one 50% off. I couldn't pass it up. I picked up this bow necklace, along with these earrings.
Studs are school appropriate compared to big hoop earrings. They add a nice touch to an outfit.
In the store, they displayed this necklace with the cream sweater. I plan on wearing it the same way. I can also wear this necklace with basic tees.
Jeans are must haves for back to school. I got the sky high jeggings. I'm super excited to style them with cropped tees and sweaters.
I then picked up a regular pair of jeggings.
Next, I went to Macy's. I found this top. I love the detailing throughout the top. It's very feminine. (First day of school shirt? I'm still deciding.)
I don't have anything this color in my closet- this army green color. I really like it, especially as a transition piece to fall. It's lightweight and just another basic clothing item.
Lastly I got a pair of jeans by Michael Kors. I am so thankful for these.
On the back right pocket it has an 'MK' on it. So cute! They're plain old boot cut jeans, but I'm so excited to wear them.
That concludes my back to school clothing haul. Tomorrow I'll post my stationary haul. I hope you enjoyed it. xx
"Because of you both, the world knows Truth and Love exist. Keep these beliefs alive, and cherish one another. Happy Anniversary!" -Unknown
In honor of my parents anniversary, I decided to share their wedding song with you- "Never Tear Us Apart" by INXS. How sweet!
Monday
My last week of summer has arrived- unfortunately. I spent the whole day volunteering at a local hospital. I got home around 4:30. I sat in front of my computer waiting until 5:00 for the Taylor Swift Yahoo Live Stream. So cool!
"I go on too many dates, but I can't make em stay," is my favorite line from Taylor's new single. "Shake It Off" by Taylor Swift is my new song obsession. It's amazing!
I also got my school schedule. That was really exciting. My classes: Newspaper, Honors Algebra II, Academic Modern World Studies, Lunch (10:30 A.M.- you're kidding right?), Honors English 10, Academic Biology, Gym, Academic Biology Lab, Preschool Program I, and Spanish II. I'm looking forward to a fantastic year.
Tuesday
I spent the day reading and jamming to Tay's new song. I also got some of my school stuff organized. I'll be doing a school supplies soon (along with some organization tips!) I'm super excited to share it with you!
Lastly, I attended a funeral.
Wednesday
Again, it was a very chill day. I woke up pretty early and spent those morning hours working on my blog. I also helped my sister, Natalie, with a post. You can check out her latest post here. She's new to blogging so if you wouldn't mind giving her some ideas and feedback, that'd be great!
Later that night, I FaceTimed my friend and helped my sister pick out some outfits for the first day of school- so exciting. Let me know what you think:
Black & White Chic | Lace & Pastels | Cute & Sassy | Casual & Girly
Here's a sneak peak at some of her outfits. I am in love with the first two. (In the second outfit she'll wear a camisole under it, therefore it will be school appropriate.) Comment below which one she should wear on the first day.
We're planning on doing a collaboration blog post on our first week of school outfits. I'm still in the process of picking mine out. I'm super nervous. Supposedly outfits define who we are. It's a little overwhelming if you ask me.
Thursday
I had my high school orientation! Wow,
The school is pretty big- and with my luck, none of my classes are next to each other. I am constantly running up and down stairs. Wish me luck.
Afterwards, my family went out to friendly's for a bite to eat. That was the only exciting part about my adventure. I could have drowned in my own sweat- gross, I know. I don't know why I was so nervous though. I've been craving school since the last day- excited to start a new chapter in my life.
Friday
I spent the day, once again, getting organized for school. Later that evening, I spent the night with my gal pals! We had so much fun!
We went out to get a bite to eat. I got chicken fingers as always. Later, we went to get ice cream at a local dairy. It was so good. Then we spent the rest of the night playing Truth Be Told. It was a lot of fun.
As light faded to darkness I slept over my friend Lauren's house. She did my nails and they turned out amazing!! She posts amazing pictures on her Instagram- very girly and tumblr inspired. You can check out her instagram by clicking the link below:
I came home to my lovely dog, Macy! isn't she a cutie!
We went to the mall and looked around for a bit. My sister picked up a tee-shirt and a pair of jeans from American Eagle.
We ate at the Cheesecake Factory for my parents 17th anniversary. How romantic! I finished off the night by eating chocolate cake that I brought home form the Cheesecake Factory. I'm now going to finish up my English assignment. It's due on the first day of school. Wish me luck!
That concludes this week's journal entry. I hope you enjoyed this post. Thanks for reading,
I am continuing with my #BackToSchoolSeries. There are only 9 days left until school starts. My summer is almost over. I'm sure most of you have already did most of your back to school shopping. Maybe you're still on the hunt for the perfect first day of school outfit?
#ThrowbackToTheFirstDayofSchool2013
I thought it would be fun to show you what I wore last year as a freshman. I really love this outfit- it's me in an outfit. I'm on the (left) if that wasn't obvious. My sister is on the right in her American Eagle apparel. Very chic.
Now, I am going into my sophomore year. Scary, right? I'm going into a completely different school with new people. It's a little overwhelming, but I'll get through it. I'll have my friends to guide me and help me out.
In my opinion, the first day of school is a big deal- it's even more of a big deal since I'm going to a new school. Boys will be boys, and girls will be girls; And at this age we tend to judge other people according to their clothing preferences. It's sad, but true.
The first day of school is a chance to make a statement. My style is very girly (with a dash of sophistication, or so I let my glasses speak on their own). Here are some of my first day of school outfit ideas for your style:
Casual & Pulled Together
If you're going back where it's slightly chilly, or you have a strict dress code, go for jeans. They give a relaxed vibe, and the simple accessories pull the outfit together. The embellishments on the shoes add a desired girly touch to the overall outfit.
Sweet & Girly
A dress with an empire waist is flattering on any body shape, plus it can be warn casual. Add a skinny belt to your waist to emphasize your waistline. Pair with cute flats to pull the look together. Simple!
Laid Back & Classy
Going for a more casual vibe? The more and more I think about it, I want to make a quiet statement on the first day of school. I'm really shy, but one of my goals this year is to be more open. This outfit allows me to express myself.
High-waisted shorts are casual and chic. Wear a top that covers everything so it's school appropriate. Add a cardigan for good measure. To tie the look together a simple neckless and sandals will go far. (This is probably what I'm going to be doing for the first day of school!)
That concludes my First Day of School Look Book. I hope you enjoyed this post. Remember to express yourself through your clothing. Make sure to tweet me your first day of school outfit. I would love to see it.
Hopefully you're not getting bored of these back to school posts. Haha. x
We've got our outfit down, now what about our makeup? Something quick, so I don't miss my bus. Something flirty, so I get my crush's attention. Something natural, so I can enhance my natural features. I know exactly what you're looking for!
Face
Start off with a primer. It's important to keep your makeup lasting all day. You don't want it to be falling off your face halfway through the day. On top of that, use a tinted moisturizer rather than a foundation. A tinted moisturizer leaves a natural looking finish, and it's not too heavy. Apply a concealer over any blemishes. Lastly, set it with a matte finishing powder.
Use a natural looking blush. Apply it to the apples of your cheeks. It adds a nice hint of color to your face. (Bronzer isn't needed.)
*(Groom your brows to keep them from looking sparse. No eyebrow powder is needed. Apply a clear mascara to them to keep them in place throughout the day.)
Eyes
Eyeshadow? Nah. You don't need any, especially for school. If you feel the need to wear eyeshadow, apply a neutral shade to your base, then add a light brown to your crease and outer corner to add definition to you eyes. In my opinion, I would skip that. It takes way too much time.
Curl your lashes and go right in to applying your favorite mascara. Go for something that separates and lengthens them- nothing too dramatic. (BEAUTY HACK: When applying mascara, get as close to the lid as you can. It looks like you applied eyeliner to your tight line, when you actually didn't. It's a simple step that defines your lash line.)
Lips
My favorite makeup item revolves around lip products- lipsticks, lipgloss, etc. I like to apply an EOS lip balm to my lips to keep them hydrated. Following that, I like to apply a sheer pink gloss.
That's it! I don't see a reason in wearing bronzer, highlighter, purple eyeshadow, or anything like that. Mostly because it takes too much time. It's a simple look that I enjoy wearing- even when I go to parties and things like that. It's effortless and girly.
"Being yourself if the prettiest thing a person can be." -Unknown
"Secrets" by Mary Lambert had me laughing hysterically. The truth has been spoken. So what? I love the meaning behind this song. It's me in a song- literally.
Monday
Monday was a wonderful day. I went down to Ocean City New Jersey for the day. We spent the day taking silly pictures (tumblr inspired of course) and laughing.
We are so, so Tumblr. #TumblrGirls
We decided to walk the boards a little bit. I got some delicious popcorn. For more pictures, you can check my Tumblr account. It will be linked below.
If you follow me on Twitter, you got a sneak peak of this picture. My beautiful sister and I posing with our awkward tan lines. The top of my chest is burnt from the day before- Sunday. I went to my sister's soccer tournament. (They came in 2nd place, by the way. Congratulations, Natalie!)
Anyway, as you can see I had a splendid time. Summer vacation is not officially a vacation until you take a trip to the beach.
My mom and I went back to school shopping! Yay! I picked up a few things for the upcoming school year and I can't wait to share them with you. I'll be doing a haul on August 25, 2014. I'll include a few clothing pieces that I picked up on my shopping run.
I then just spent the rest of my day running errands with my mom. I also picked up this bathing suit:
I am in love with it. The details throughout the piece is flattering. The shoulder straps have gold accents that are adjustable. Overall, it's just a great bathing suit. If you're interested, it comes in a variety of colors. I'm so thankful my mom bought this for me. So excited to wear it!
And that concludes Tuesday.
Wednesday
We went clothing shopping! Yay! I've been craving this since June! I got 3 pairs of jeans, a few tops, and 2 necklaces. I'm looking forward to sharing them with you.
I then spent the rest of my night just hanging out and catching up on some reading. I have to finish reading my summer reading book. Stress.
Again, I'll be posting my haul on August 25, 2014. I look forward to it and I hope you do too.
Thursday
This was my chill day of the week. I woke up and immediately started reading The Color of Water by James Mcbride.
It's a book about his childhood life and his mother. I'm about 1/2 way through the book. It's very interesting. He's a very thought provoking author. I like that a lot.
I also completed my social studies project. Finally! Next summer I won't procrastinate so much.
Friday
Just another simple day. I worked on some #BackToSchoolSeries blog posts. I'm almost done the series. I just have to do the "Get Ready With Me: First Day of School" post, but I'm going to be taking pictures and such, as it happens.
I also cleaned my room and read some of my summer reading book. In that purpose, I think I was pretty productive and successful.
Saturday
Party! Party! Party! One of my best friend's had a birthday party at a local pool. It was so much fun. Here's what I got her:
She loves One Direction. I got her a small train case and filled it with a Baby Lips lip balm, 2 nail polished by NYC, nail polish remover, my favorite makeup remover wipes, and a beautiful eyeshadow palette.
It states that it is specifically for brown eyes, but you can definitely use this for any eye color! You can do so many looks with this neutral palette. (I wish I would have picked up one for myself as well. It's so pretty. I'm sure it's super pigmented too.)
To complete it, I added some ribbon onto the train case and of course inserted a card. I had such a wonderful time with old friends and new ones!
That concludes this week's journal entry. It was a lot of fun.
