April Favorites

Hi everyone! x

May starts this Friday. Can you believe it? Just one more month of school... Then I'll be a junior- it's crazy! 

This month I have several favorites- beauty, fashion, music, and some random things that I've been gravitating towards. Enjoy! x

Beauty

Ulta Romantic Eyeshadow Quad- I'm in love with this quad. It has such beautiful colors. I do tend to lean toward a natural look, but for the night time I like to intensify my eyes. 

Ulta Mascara- This mascara does just the trick. I specifically use it for school because it separates my lashes and lengthens them. It doesn't clump them together or make them "too" black, which is something I like for the day time. 

"Spring Fling" Lotion by Aerie- I received this lotion as a freebie when I spent over a certain amount of money at Aerie. It does have a very strong scent, so a little does go a long way. I typically just apply it to my elbows, legs, and feet when I get out of the shower. The excess I just rub up on my arms. 

Fashion

American Eagle 3 Ring Set-  A little over a month ago I went shopping with one of my girl friends. We had a blast! I stopped in American Eagle just to browse around. I picked up a bohemian styled shirt and this ring set. They literally go with everything. They have made their way into my everyday jewelry.

Pandora Ring "Intertwined"- This ring was a Christmas gift, but I has to exchange it for size. The right size finally came in about a month and a half ago. I'm absolutely in love with it. It's so pretty! 

Other

App: PhotoWonder- I was watching Michelle Phan's video on her tech favorites. This app is incredible. My selfies have never looked better! 

Spotify- I've always love Spotify- I have the the app on my cell phone, iPad, and my desktop. I've been making a lot of different playlists lately. 

Ring of index cards- I love having a ring of index cards with me in my school bag/purse when I'm out and about. (My Creative Writing instructor actually suggested this. Ever since I got my hands on a ring of cards I haven't stopped using them.) They're great for recording blog topic ideas and planning posts.

I never thought that she'd get down on someone I know. 

"Ex To See" by Sam Hunt

You don't want me, you just want your ex to see.

Sam Hunt is an overall favorite this month. He has such a unique style and his songs are so relatable. Two of my favorite songs by him are "Break Up In A Small Town" and "Ex To See," you should totally check them out. Let me know what you think! 

I've also been obsessed with Tove Lo- from "Love Ballad" to "Not On Drugs" to "Over." I'm obsessed with her work. Her music is very blunt- which is something I love. It's also very relatable. Her albums have been on repeat on my Spotify account.

Review: Superbalm Moisturizing Gloss by Clinique

It seems as if it has been forever since I last did a review. I have been loving this specific lip gloss by Clinique. Click here to check this product out.

How did I obtain this product?
I bought this product with a gift card I got for my birthday a few months ago.

Packaging: 4/5
Clinique's packaging is very classic. The packaging simply doesn't compare to Benefit or Too Face cosmetics, but the clean and simple design of it is highly desired upon in my eyes.

Application: 5/5
I love that this product is in a tube. I find that it's super easy to reapply throughout the day. Right before lunch and after gym I like to touch up my makeup- oil absorbing sheet and a quick reapplication of gloss. It's super easy to just grab and go!

Durability: 2/5
I find that this product does not last that long. So I do find myself reapplying it several times a day, if I'm not too lazy to do so.

Finish: 5/5
I love the finish of this product. I don't put a chap stick on before this product or a lipstick under it. This product alone is all I need for a sheer shine. Personally, I love it for school.

Consistency: 5/5
When a lip gloss isn't sticky it's a 5/5 to me!

Price: 4/5
This product retails for $16.00. It is a higher end product and it does work fairly well; I would say it's definitely worth the price.

This product is definitely a 9/10. Despite the longevity of the product, I would still like to purchase another lip gloss for the spring and summer months.

Taylor Swift 1989 Tag

In honor of Taylor Swift going on tour in a few days, here is the 1989 tag:

1. Welcome To New York // If you could live in any city, which would it be and why?
I tried to narrow it down to one, but that didn't happen. Here are my top 3: Miami, New York, and Paris. I would honestly love to live in any city in Florida, mostly for the weather. New York is such a beautiful city overall. I love every aspect of it. As for Paris, that's my far fetched one. My goal is to go there before I die.

2. Blank Space // What is something that everyone thinks is true about you, but is actually false?
I'm not really sure how people perceive me to be honest; I keep to myself.


3. Style // What is one item in your closet that makes you feel unstoppable? 
My Michael Kors scarf that I got for Christmas makes me feel completely unstoppable. It gives me a boost of confidence whenever I'm having a bad hair day or a really bad breakout.

This was from winter break. My family traveled out to Hershey, Pennsylvania. So much fun!

4. Out of The Woods // What is the one thing you are afraid of?
Rejection. I'm not scared of anything more than I am of rejection. You will never find me asking a guy out because I don't want to get rejected. You will never find me trying out for a travel soccer team because I fear the word no. You will never find me doing anything that could possibly lead to the result of me being rejected. (I have mini panic attacks every now and then just thinking about college applications.)


5. All You Had To Do Was Stay // Who is someone you wish was still in your life?
This might come off as slightly harsh, but I believe things happen for a reason. With that being said, if they walked out of my life for a reason, that reason should be pretty valid. If we just can't get along, fate is signaling something. If someone screws up their life doing something I don't believe in morally, fate is signaling something.

If I had to pick someone, I would pick my grandmother who passed away a few years ago. I heard she was an incredible woman. It's unfortunate that I never got the chance to interact with her at the age that I'm at- I feel like I would have had a lot more to say.


6. Shake It Off // What is something you have had to shake off?
Surprisingly, the most recent experience took place in 9th grade. My first "real" boyfriend broke up with me after a party. That Monday morning the word spread pretty quickly and all of his friends were constantly putting me down. It finally ended as time progressed, but I'm pretty sure I went home everyday after school and sang to Tay's hit "Mean" into my hairbrush.

This is a storage book. It holds some memory pieces in it: pictures, gifts, etc.

Yes, I was that girl. And yes, it made me feel better. Now I have "Shake It Off." Thank you Miss. Swift!


7. I Wish You Would // What is something you'd like to happen right now?
I wish my blog would take off. That would be a really cool experience.


8. Bad Blood // Have you ever had someone stab you in the back?
I'm a sixteen year old girl in high school- yes. It was only one major time that I can actually recollect the experience completely. We just didn't agree on "certain things" so that led to a ruthless falling out.


9. Wildest Dreams // What would you like to be remembered for?
I want to be remembered for doing what I love despite what people think: writing (and hopefully inspiring). That's my biggest goal in life: to inspire.


10. How You Get The Girl // What is your favorite pickup line?

How can I know so many digits of pi, but not the 7 digits of your phone number?

Yeah, I'm in an honors math class above my grade level. That pickup line was necessary. Here's to all you math geeks out there!


11. This Love // What is something you got back that you never thought you would?
My confidence. In middle school my confidence was knocked down a bit. I had braces and suffered from really bad acne. Now that I'm getting older my acne has dialed down quite a bit. As a sophomore in high school I feel totally confident in who I am and who I want to be.

I dedicate a lot of time to myself now- working out, meditating, writing, and anything else that allows me to break down my walls.

12. I Know Places // Where is one place you will always feel safe?
Honestly, my room is the one place where I will always feel safe. It's a very cozy area where I can do whatever I want- listen to music, write in my journal, work on my blog, and everything else you can imagine. It's a very peaceful, welcoming place, if I do say so myself. (I can also dance around in the middle of it while belting out Taylor's songs- thinking of certain people.)


13. Clean // What is an important lesson you have learned in life? How did you learn it?

Like Taylor, I had to learn how to let go of people, in general.

Background story: I was in this relationship with this genuine guy- he was your average person- so to speak. The relationship started off well, but then as time proceeded it was kind of an emotional roller coaster. His emotions were hard to read; I couldn't tell if I had done something wrong or what. I kind of knew the relationship was coming to an end- the "drought" was happening.We finalized it. It was officially over. After a few days the rain came pouring down. I wasn't drowning in sorrow or pity. I was drowning in rejoice. That negative energy fogged up my optimism. That was not okay.

Going through the motions taught me that not all people are going to accept me for who I am and my morals; and I'm okay with that. You simply have to be okay with that.

Spring Goals

Hello everyone!

In honor of the spring season- and it actually beginning to feel like spring- I thought I would share some of my goals with you.

1. Finish the school year with a GPA of 3.7 or higher
My future is really important to me. I'm constantly pondering on who I'll be and what impact I'll make on the world.

These are some of the classes I'm currently taking. These classes definitely take up a lot of my time outside of school because of all the homework.

Spanish is definitely one of my favorite subjects- it simply clicks. 

2. "Me" Time
I'm a sophomore in high school, yes my life is stressful. Confidence is key. I want to dedicate a lot more time to myself. I've already taken some of these steps to becoming more confident:

• workout/play soccer more often
• take more bubble baths
• try doing yoga (through YouTube tutorials)
• experiment with new styles
• eat healthier (salads, protein shakes, etc.)
• listen to more Christian music

3. Write creatively more often
I tend to always stick to news worthy stuff journalism. I want to write more poetry pieces and fiction stories- or at least experiment with the idea. I've decided to find different prompts on the internet a.k.a. Pinterest, to help the creative juice in my blood flowing.

Here's a poem called "Artist" I wrote about a month ago:

Your lips were the paintbrush,

My body was the canvas,

You were such an artist.

You were the red tie with a rose in your hand,

I was the little black dress in the backseat,

You were such an artist.

You were the boy I always dreamt of,

I was just another girl,

And darling, you were such an artist.

I compared the relationship to inanimate objects. I thought this was a great way to portray the relationship as a whole. He was the paintbrush because he was in "control" of the relationship- where we would hangout, who we would hangout with, etc. We never got to hangout with my friends or talk about my love for writing. It just wasn't like that. Don't get the wrong idea though, it was fun getting to know him. Overall, I really like how this poem came out. 

4. Continue to create and develop myself as a person
This is really important to me. Every now and then I go in phases where I wonder on who I "really" am. I intend on going on more walks outdoors and writing down all off my thoughts.
