My Boyfriend Guesses The Price of Girly Things

This week, I'm introducing my boyfriend, Andres, to some of my favorite girly products. I have lots and lots of products, so let's get into it:

Revolution Ultra Palette Golden Sugar 2 - Blush, Bronze & Highlight

Andres said that he thought this palette is on the market for $23.95. He said, this was a high-end product because of the large mirror and the variety of colors. He was off by $13.95; it was only $10.

Revolution Jewel Collection Jelly Highlighter Prestigious

He was pretty on par with this one. He estimated it to be about $7 flat. His reasoning behind marketing so low is because "it's really just liquid" and it's just one shade. In this case, he was only off by $2! This highlighter is actually $9. And, it's worth every penny.

Amazonia Clay 12-Hour Highlighter by Tarte Cosmetics

When I revealed how cheap the Makeup Revolution highlighter was, I wanted to throw him a curve ball with this high-end highlighter. This highlighter retails for $29. Andres said it was probably only $13. It costs a little bit more than the previous one because it has a mirror. He was shocked!

Maybelline Fit Me Blush

This might be my favorite thing that Andres said during this challenge: "The fancier the color, the more [expensive] it is." That's what he estimated it to be $12.50, instead of the actual price of $5.99. (Side note: I absolutely love this blush-- and the color is pretty fancy!)

Revolution Conceal & Define Concealer - C2

Andres was, again, pretty on par with this product, my favorite concealer of all time. I will never change up my concealer ever again. I love the formula, coverage, everything! Andres guessed that this product was $8 due to the small container. And, he was right on-- this product retails for $7.

Cucumber De-Tox Foaming Cleanser by Peter Thomas Roth

This is my holy grail face wash. I've gone through so many bottles. I think I'm on my 6th? 7th? They last a long time too! Andres said this was probably $18. This product is actually on the high-end; it's $35. But, hey, it's worth it!

Yes To Face

I love, love, love face masks. I think they're so much fun! And, my boyfriend definitely knows this by the countless masked selfies I send him. He wasn't surprised when I asked him how much he thought one of my go-to face masks costs. He estimated Yes To face masks to go for $5. They range from $2.99-$3.99. Pretty close!!

Clearly Brighter Dark Circle Eye Roller

Again, Andres was pretty on par. This eye roller retails for $12.99 and his guess was $15. Only $2 off!

U by Kotex Cleanwear Ultra Thin Fitness Pads

And, this guess was my favorite guess of all. A 30 count box of pads is approximately $6.99. Andres guessed it retailed for $40. Thank God it doesn't cost this much. I would be working a part-time job just to supply feminine hygiene products for myself.

Andres, you did a great job at guessing these prices. I am so appreciative you took part in this little challenge on my blog. Send me some more blog post ideas you want me to feature Andres in!

My Journey To Happiness: My Favorite Ways To Practice Happiness

Let me explain: I'm practicing to be a psychologist. So, I over analyze events and people. It's just what I do. So, it's no surprise that I over analyze myself in certain events. We all do, right? Let's put that aside and focus on happiness.

Here are my favorite ways to practice happiness:

Letters of forgiveness.

Apparently, forgiveness is a huge contributor to happiness. And, it's one of the hardest things for me to do. It's especially hard for me to do when your friend deliberately lies to you-- over and over again. I know I'm not the only one who struggles with this.

Best possible future self exercise.

Once a week, I like to spend 10-15 minutes envisioning and/or writing about my best possible future self. I tend to write about different aspects of my anticipated career, a psychologist for immigrants. I think about being a teacher or a non-profit organizer. Thinking about those things allows me to set goals for myself and work towards them.

Set goals.

Whether they are short-term or long-term, set them. I set them everyday in my planner:

  • Finish English paper
  • Email back X company about sponsorship
  • Go grocery shopping
  • Be awesome
Adopt a fitness routine.

There's a million and one studies that support the idea that exercise decreases stress levels. I can definitely say that I've branched out of my comfort zone in terms of fitness. For example, I have recently taken up zumba-- BEST. DECISION. EVER. It kicked my butt, but totally worth it. I've also experimented with crazy gym equipment. (The kind you think only the baseball team uses!) I've been able to sculpt my body into the shape I want, which has in turn helped me develop confidence.

Writing.

I've always gravitated towards writing when it comes to expressing myself. I like to write short journal entries, and even more so, poetry. It's the perfect coping mechanism for when I'm upset or angry.

Expressing gratitude.

One of the most important exercises of adopting a happiness program is to include expressing gratitude. Over the past few months, I have attempted to show gratitude towards my family. With finals right around the corner, I am a little on edge and stressed. Appreciating and thanking my family for everything they have done to help me is super important.

Experience flow. Constantly.

In more ways than one I experience flow: blogging, listening to music, spending time with my family, writing, etc.. Do whatever makes you happy and passes the time by.

Meditation.

Three words: This. Is. Hard. It has taken me some serious practice to learn how to meditate. I like to lie down on my bed. I also like to either light a candle or use a diffuser to stimulate my senses. Then, I use the Meditation Minis Podcast on Spotify to complete my session. I highly recommend this station, as the sessions are only 10 minutes long.

My Sister's College Announcement: Florida Southern College

Congratulations to my sister, Natalie! She has recently committed to Florida Southern College, home of the Mocs. She will study biology in hopes of becoming a veterinarian.

Natalie, I am so excited for you and what your future holds. Your character, intelligence, and motivation will make such a unique and powerful impact on the world. Being in the top 5% of your class, pursuing a male-dominated field, saving animals... is there anything you can't do?

Congratulations, Florida Southern College! You chose an incredible woman.

8 Do's and Don'ts of Traveling With Your S.O.

A few weeks ago, I went to Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida with my family. (I'm sure you saw pics on Insta and Twitter!) Like every other vacation, I had a blast! However, this one was a little different because I traveled with my boyfriend. B-I-G step; I know! Instead of doing a typical travel diary, I thought I would share some of the do's and don'ts for the next time you travel with your bae.

1. DO pick a destination you are BOTH interested in.

This was kind of, very last minute. However, we both have a love for Disney, so it worked out! We're in the works of planning our next adventure now.

2. DON'T under pack.

Be sure to double and triple check your suitcase. You don't want to have to worry about clothes, toiletries, etc. on your getaway. Click here to checkout my carry-on essentials.

3. DO plan.

Take the time to go through Pinterest and see what cool things there are to do in the place you're visiting. My boyfriend and I watched a ton of YouTube videos on the best places to eat in Walt Disney World. We made sure to hit at least 3 of them-- yum!

4. DON'T be afraid to go with the flow.

Not everything goes according to plan. Don't let it ruin your mood! Role with the punches; everything will work itself out.

5. DO compromise.

I really wanted to go on the Frozen ride in Epcot. My boyfriend was so sweet and waited the 2 hour wait with me. However, I made sure to do the same thing with him when he wanted to hop on Soarin'.

6. DON'T demand high standards of one another.

Treat each other as if you were back home.

7. DO take lots of pictures.

This is going to be one for the books-- I promise!

8. DON'T be afraid to try something new.

2019 is all about trying new things and making the most out of them. Step out of your comfort zone with one another!

My Poppin' Workout Routine

With summer right around the corner, I thought I would share my current workout routine with y'all. Over the past year, I've become addicted to working out. It's true: when you see results, you become obsessed. I've noticed a huge difference in my legs and abs.

Leg Day
  • Side Kick Squat (5x each leg)
  • Hip Thrust (15x)
  • Donkey Kick (20x each leg)
  • Side Lunge (5x each leg)
  • Single-Leg Hip Extension (10x each leg)
  • Side-Lying Leg Raise (20x each leg)
  • Plie squat (20x)
  • Hip Bridge Hold (1 minute)
Repeat 3 times. Sometimes, I get bored doing this routine 3 times, so I'll change different exercises. For example, I'll do curtsey lunges instead of side lunges, rainbows in place of single-leg hip extensions, and jump squats instead of plie squats.

Ab Day
  • Speed Walk (0.5 miles)
  • Cross Jacks (30x)
  • Side Knee Raise (10x each leg)
  • Full Plank (1 minute)
  • Sit Ups (20x)
  • Russian Twist (20x each side)
  • V-Sit (1 minute)
  • Single Leg V-Up (5x each leg)
  • Bicycle Kicks (30x)
  • Cat Camel Exercise (5 breaths)
  • Cobra Pose (5 breaths)
Repeat 3 times.

Bikini Body Day
  • Butt Kicks (30x)
  • Squat Jump (20x)
  • Plank Hip Twist (10x each side)
  • Donkey Kick (20x each leg)
  • Single-Leg Hip Extension (15x each leg)
  • Squat Thrust (20x)
  • Vertical Leg Crunch (20x)
  • Side Plank Knee Crunch (15x each side)
  • Up and Down Plank (10x)
Repeat 2 times.

If you don't burn by the end of any of these workouts, then you're doing somethings wrong. My butt always burns by the end of the third set. My abs burn after the first one; they still need some work.  My workouts are inspired by the 7M Women app. The app tracks your workouts and the calories you burn. I love it! (Not sponsored!)

Get Ready With Me: Airport + Carry On Essentials

Let's get airport ready! In this blog post, I'm sharing how I get ready for the airport and a tropical vacation. We're gonna cover my go-to hair look, my go-to makeup, and a super comfy outfit. I'll also highlight some of my carry-on essentials.

Let's get started:

Hair

I like to keep my hair pretty simple because I know I'll be putting my ahead against the window for a nice power nap. I like to enhance my natural hair texture by blow drying it straight. I'll also throw a big clip in my carry on along with several creaseless hair ties.

Makeup

Same goes for makeup: I like to keep it relatively simple. I start off with a base to moisturize my skin and minimize my pores. To even out my complexion, but still keep things light, I like to grab my BB cream. Then, I follow up with blush, mascara, and a clear gel to set my eyebrows in place. To ensure this lasts all day long, I use my favorite setting spray from Urban Decay.

Outfit

Yoga pants are my go to! They're heavy enough for this chilly weather, but cool enough for the south. I like to pair my yoga pants with a soft tee, like one from J. Crew. I have one that reads, "On Island Time." Could it be any more appropriate for a Florida vacay? Then, I like to wear comfy shoes. I love my yoga mat flip-flops from Sanuk. I'm noticing a pattern-- cozy.

Weekly Prep

I definitely like to give myself a glam treatment before going on vacation because I'll be taking lots and lots of pics. I actually did a blog post a couple of years ago on how I prep for a big event. Click here.

Carry-On Essentials

I am actually squeezing a week's worth of clothing into my carry-on bag. I have been watching packing and travel videos on YouTube religiously. Below is my carry-on list. I'll be throwing all of these items into my Hunter duffle bag. It's a dream bag!

  • 5 Tops
  • 5 Shorts
  • 1 Dress
  • 2-3 Pairs of Leggings (Black, navy, and gray)
  • 2 Pairs of Shoes (Sandals + Sneakers)
  • 10 Pairs of Underwear
  • Accessories (1 necklace, 1 ring, a few bangles, 2 pairs of earrings)
  • 3 Pairs of Sock
  • 3 Bathing Suits
  • 2 Cover Ups
  • 1-2 Sweatshirt(s)
  • Make-Up
  • Skincare
  • Toiletries
  • Pads/Tampons
  • Laptop + Charger
  • Cell phone + Charger + Headphones
  • Camera + Charger + Lens
  • Planner + Pens
  • School Work

Let me know what your must-have essential is for a tropical vacation. Is it a Lilly Pulitzer dress? Or, maybe a retro bikini? Comment below!

20 Things I Learned About Friendships & Relationships

This post might come off as a little sassy, but we're down. With V-Day right around the corner,  here are 20 things I learned about friendships and relationships:

1. Patience is truly a virtue.

First, let me start off by saying: I am very sorry to anyone who caught me while my patience was running thin. I definitely struggle with possessing patience, but I'm working on it.

2. People throw rocks at things that shine.

When you're in a relationship with a wonderful person, your friends might try to break y'all up because they're jealous. Jealousy is a very ugly trait.

3. There are different types of love.

And, I love that.

4. Exes are exes for a reason.

Don't stalk them on Instagram and Facebook. As Elsa would say, "let it go." (My mom taught me that one.)

5. Don't go to your ex's work.

It's awkward for everyone. Really. Trust me on this one.

6. If you breakup with a guy, and he asks if you can still make-out on the weekends he's a jerk.

7. Don't make promises you can't keep.

It's hurtful for everyone.

8. Jealousy is an ugly trait-- that a lot of people wear.

When you are thriving, friends, even those who you think are your real friends will try to bring you down.

9. If your "real" friend talks bad about other girls to you, she's probably talking bad about you to other girls.

Who knew Mean Girls wasn't just a movie?

10. Love wholeheartedly.

Always. Always. Always.

11. If someone doesn't support your goals, they're not worth your time.

If someone says, you shouldn't-- ignore.

12. Those who can't accept you at your worst don't deserve you at your best.

We all have highs. And, we all have lows. It's important to still love someone through those periods.

13. Don't kiss and tell.

It's no one's business what goes on between you and another human being.

14. Don't fight for someone that you're over.

What's meant to be will be.

15. Say what you want to say.

If you want to tell someone you love them, say it. If you want to tell someone that you want to marry them, say it. If you want to tell someone that you want to move to a new state with them, say it (but also mean it). You never know what you might be missing out on.

16. Most people are good.

Most. Some are crazy.

17. Family is always a true friend.

I can always count on my family.

18. Different people cross your path for different reasons.

I've met people who have encouraged me to do my own thing and follow my own dreams. I appreciate those people and thank God for having them cross my path.

19. Commitment is a choice.

Believe it or not.

20. Loving is living.

Without love, you're not really living. Love is everything and more.

I hope y'all have a wonderful Valentine's day, whether you're celebrating friendships, lovers, or yourself! Stay safe!

Life Hacks To Slay The Spring Semester + Giveaway

The spring semester is in full swing and I am ready to conquer it like no other. And, I want you to be able to slay it in the same fashion. Therefore, I'm sharing some of my favorite life hacks to help you thrive this semester.

Let's get started:

Make a schedule-- and stick to it.

I love a consistent schedule that is easy to follow. I made this one over winter break. I included when I plan to:

  • Eat
  • Go to class
  • Workout
  • Study
  • Volunteer
  • Wake-up/go to bed
  • Laundry

I definitely recommend making a schedule like this one that you can put on or above your desk. Having it easily accessible will encourage you to follow it.

Use a planner.

I am a huge fan of Lilly Pulitzer planners, as they are bright and colorful. However, they also have a lot of space for you to write down all of your assignments and to-dos. If you're a planner addict like myself, you can also purchase a pack of stickers. I love using stickers for birthdays, big assignments, events, etc.

Get your textbooks!

I recommend purchasing your books from the Barnes & Noble Marketplace. I found 6 of my textbooks for $1.99. (Not sponsored, but I wish it was!)

Clean out your backpack.

Right away, start off the semester with a clean backpack. I cleaned out mine a couple of weeks ago and it was gross! Think: snack wrappers beyond snack wrappers. Ew. I also threw my backpack in the wash to ensure the ultimate level of cleanliness. Don't forget to pack it with your supplies and a girl survival kit!

Be a minimalist with your school supplies.

I take 6 classes; having 6 notebooks and 6 folders is extremely unnecessary, I use 3 folders and a 5-subject notebook. I label my 3 folders:
  • Important (Syllabi, mission statements, etc.)
  • To Do (Assignments in progress)
  • Turn In (Completed assignments)
I've found that this system works great! I then use a 5 subject notebook because one of my classes isn't a heavy note taking class. I'm also thinking about cutting this semester down to a  3 subject notebook, but we'll see!

Make flashcards + put them on your night stand.

I actually shared this life hack with my social psychology class last semester. Everyone was super impressed! When you're done making flashcards, put them by your bed. You are more likely to go through them before bed if they're within reach. #ChannelFactors

Focus.

Constantly remind yourself of what you're going to school for (and how much money you and/or your parents' are paying for it). Last semester, I felt like I was spreading myself too thin. I wasn't. I was having trouble focusing. My friends were always partying and having fun. I felt out of place not being able to join them. It doesn't matter what other people are doing. It matters what YOU are doing.

Winter Pampering Routine 2019

Definitely not a fan of this cold weather-- but who is? My skin is definitely in need of a warm detox. One that rids hormonal acne and gives me the glow up every girl wants this season. Let's talk about how I pamper myself during this chilly time of year:

A hot bath.

I like to start off my pampering sessions with a warm, luxurious bath. I like to go all out and use a bath bomb and/or other fun tub time potions to make my bath look pretty. Tonight, I'm using this citrus bath oil from Kneipp.

Glow-up body routine.

My glow-up body routine is fairly minimal. I like to start off by exfoliating my body with a scrub from Bath & Body Works or a DIY scrub.

To DIY a sugar scrub I like to use:

  • Brown sugar
  • Olive oil
  • Honey
  • Cinnamon

Then, I shave and follow up with a body wash and an in-shower body lotion. This makes my legs so soft and smooth.

Face care.

My skincare routine is kind of excessive these days-- I'm not going to lie. I found a Korean skincare routine on Pinterest and I've been following it religiously for the past couple of weeks:

  1. Oil cleanser
  2. Foam cleanser
  3. Exfoliator (Don't forget your lips too!)
  4. Essence
  5. Serum
  6. Sheet mask
  7. Eye cream
  8. Moisturizer
This routine has changed my skincare. It is so dewy and glowy-- I love it!

Other bits and pieces.

During my pampering routine, I like to drink lots and lots of water to hydrate my body. While I'm sipping on my water, I like to watch beauty gurus on YouTube or something on Netflix. And, of course, a snack is needed! My go to is popcorn. This makes for the perfect comfy & cozy evening-- especially right before the spring semester starts up.

18 Things That Happened in 2018

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!

Finals are finally over-- and I'm finally able to submerge myself back into the blogging world. I wanted to kick off the end of the year with a blog post on 18 things that happened in 2018. Usually, I talk about my accomplishments, but the truth is: there are ups and downs.

Here are 18 things that happened in 2018:

1. I toured some colleges in Florida with my family.

My sister is planning to further her education at Florida Southern College, where she wants to study business and political science. And, I already miss her like crazy.

2. Not only did I experience a concert in the pit, but I experienced Taylor Swift's Reputation tour from that view.

It was one of the most incredible nights of my life. As Taylor would say, it was gorgeous.

3. I also saw Charlie Puth perform.

One word: shirtless. If you ever get the chance to see him in concert, do it! He sounds amazing!

4. I had my first real breakup.

As much as I don't want to discuss this on a public platform, I would like to add it to my list. It happened. And, more importantly, it helped shape who I am today. I am constantly reminded that things happen for a reason.

5. I took my first ever college level science class and got an A.

This one in itself deserves an applause.

6. I made the Dean's List. And the President's List.

Hard work pays off! This past semester I got a 4.0, taking the maximum amount of credits. I've never worked so hard in my life.

7. I found my passion.

I love working with immigrants. I want to be a psychologist for immigrants and help them overcome trauma. I want to help them find themselves. I want to help them self-actualize. I am so passionate about this topic that I am planning on conducting research about immigrants and self-actualization during my senior year at Cabrini University.

8. I hit 120,000 views on my blog.

I know, I know.. my blog has definitely been slacking. But, thanks to y'all, I reached 120,000 views. Thank you so much for your support. (Stay tuned for giveaways in 2019!)

9. I went to Washington, D.C. to advocate for immigration reform.

If there is anything I learned this semester it's to advocate. Advocate for what you believe in.

10. I attended a protest to shut down Berks County Residential Center.

#ShutDownBerks

11. I was inducted into Delta Epsilon Sigma.

Did I mention hard work pays off? Always, always, always go the extra mile.

12. I began teaching English as a second language (ESL).

And absolutely love it! I think I would like to pursue this as a career someday.

13. I toured a few small towns in South Carolina.

And, I tasted the most amazing bread-- covered in cheese and butter and Heaven.

14. I adopted a workout schedule and kept with it.

This was definitely on the harder side, but I did it! I found a kick butt workout that really activates your legs and core. I've never loved my body shape so much. #WhatsWrongWithBeingConfident

15. I completed my first year of college, and second, and third.

I have never been so proud of a decision I've made. Cabrini University has given me so many opportunities that I wouldn't have been able to receive anywhere else.

16. I supported my mom at her graduation.

My mom received a certificate for leadership. She continues to be an inspiration to me everyday.

17. My family went to New York and saw Niagara Falls.

Just a mini family vacay, but I enjoyed it. It was nice to get away for a little while.

18. My grandma conquered her cancer treatments.

Above all, my grandma was diagnosed with an extremely rare form of ovarian cancer and she received treatment for it for the past couple of months. To say the least: she rocked it. I couldn't imagine being in her shoes. But, by what I've seen, I can tell you it's extremely difficult. Her will to keep fighting was definitely an inspiration to not only my family, but other members who attended the cancer center. If the world had half as much optimism as she does, this world would be a beautiful place.

My 2018 Christmas Wishlist

Merry Christmas & Happy Holidays!

I know it's been quite some time since I posted a blog post. Don't worry; I'm working towards solidifying a set schedule. In this blog post, I'm going to be sharing My 2018 Christmas Wishlist with y'all. The things on my list are definitely a lot more practical than they have been in past years. This year, I'm asking for makeup, skincare, and comfy clothes.

If you know me, you know I love Kate Spade New York designs. I think her designs are so classy and elegant. I've been eyeing up this lunch bag since the summer. Since I'm going to be commuting to college next year, I wanted to invest in a quality lunch bag.

Before I went to college, I purchased a cheap rain coat from Kohl's. Don't get me wrong, I love it. However, it doesn't hold up too well when it's raining cats and dogs. I want to invest in a better quality rain jacket that will last me forever.

I have never loved a concealer as much as I love this one. Not to mention, I'm definitely in need of a new one. I think this will be my third, maybe fourth bottle? #GoBuyIt

Because of how satisfied I was with the concealer, I wanted to put Makeup Revolution's blushers to the test. These colors are absolutely gorgeous-- aren't they?

Again, putting Makeup Revolution to the test: I wanted to see if this is comparable to Urban Decay's All-Nighter Setting Spray-- for $8 this would be a steal.

Not only am I in desperate need of a new foundation, but I've heard such great reviews about this one. If any of you guys have tried this foundation, let me know what you think!

I've been using this cleanser for ages and love it! It has helped even out my complexion without over drying it.

I found these brightening pads while browsing Ulta Beauty online. I think they would be so much fun to try out before a big event, like a dance or graduation.

I've had my eyes on these for the past couple of months. I am all about going to class in a comfy, yet cute outfit. These sweatpants will get me through-- plus, who doesn't love school spirit? #GoCavs

To be honest, I'm not much of an eyeshadow guru. However, I think these shades are natural enough for me to pull off. I also think they're absolutely gorgeous!

After a long week, this is my go to solution for banishing breakouts. It draws out all of the gunk from your pores. My pores not only tighten, but my skin looks super glowy.

Who doesn't love mascara? Rumor has it: this mascara is supposed to be a dupe for the Better Than Sex mascara. And, I, like all other makeup addicts, love this mascara.

I have two hats: a Cabrini University one and a monogrammed one. I would love to add to my collection.

The perfect addition to any self-care evening. I think these would be so fun to try out!

Comment below: What's on your Christmas Wishlist this year?

18 Things I'm Thankful For in 2018

Happy Thanksgiving, y'all!

Don't worry: I know we all have final exams that we need to start studying for and Christmas lists we need to shop for, so I'll keep it short. Here are 18 things that I am thankful for this holiday season:

Bloggers.

For saying what you want, how you want, when you want it. I think it's incredibly brave.

Determination.

For helping me overcome difficult obstacles and go after my dreams.

Peter Thomas Roth Detox Cucumber Cleanser.

For keeping my skin under control-- even when I have two exams and a paper due the next day.

Real friends.

For supporting me and loving me.

The people that stand by me at protests for shutting down detention centers.

I attended a vigil to shut down Berks County Residential Center, a detention center for undocumented immigrants. It was extremely eyeopening. Read more about it here.

Fate.

For bringing me where I am today. I have met so many people who I wouldn't have crossed paths with otherwise. These people have expanded my views and helped shape the person I am today.

Pearl earrings.

For making me look classy even in yoga pants.

Cabrini University.

For giving me a quality education. I love learning and I love experiencing new things.

Sunshine.

Warm, sunny days will forever be my favorite.

My right to vote.

I think it is so important to voice your opinion through taking part in elections. Be the change.

Taylor Swift.

For writing a song that you can relate to at any point in a relationship-- from the honey moon stage to the never ending breakup. #WANEGBT

Language.

Being able to communicate with people is a beautiful thing. (I'm almost done my Spanish minor-- woo hoo!)

Psychology.

Understanding the human mind is an incredible experience. I am currently enrolled in four psychology courses and they are mind blowing. I am always analyzing people in my daily life. (Yes, I know I probably shouldn't do that.)

The ability to help others.

I currently teach English as a second language (ESL) to at risk migrant children and I love how rewarding the work is. Every chance you get to help someone: do it.

Risks.

For teaching me confidence.

Love.

For teaching me that it exists.

Failures.

My dad always told me that one learns more in their failures than they do in their successes. Whether someone walks out of your life or you do poorly on a test, you learn from it. Those failures have taught me how to approach those same situations differently.

My family.

For being incredible. My family has always stood behind me, whether I want to protest an issue, blog about my favorite makeup brands, or pursue a different career path. If it weren't for my family, I wouldn't have been able to grow and develop into the best version of myself.

I wouldn't be:

  • Pursuing a college education, studying psychology and Spanish
  • Taking part in my college's honors program
  • Graduating a year and a half early
  • Teaching English as a second language (ESL)
  • Running a blog that has 100,000+ views
  • Working with 50+ companies
  • Being inducted into Delta Epsilon Sigma (DES)
  • Advocating for immigration reform in the United States
  • Growing my confidence

Thank you so much to my family. I couldn't be more thankful for the love and support they give me. What are you thankful for? Are you thankful for your ex like Ariana? Or, are you simply thankful for a nice home cooked meal-- I know I am! Comment below!

20 Things I Learned Before I Turned 20

I'm officially 20-- and, yes, I feel old! Last week was a blast! I woke up to confetti sprinkled around my bedroom floor and sticky notes all over my bathroom door. I also woke up to instagrams, tweets, and snaps from you guys! Thank you all so much for remembering me on my birthday! It means the world to me. XOXO

1. Comparing yourself to others is a waste of time.

Everyone is unique. Don't waste your energy analyzing and contrasting yourself to others. It's overrated.

2. Always do your best.

Always give your all-- no matter what the event is.

3. People are people.

We are all humans regardless of our backgrounds. Those fleeing their home countries and coming to the United States are seeking a better life. Click here to read more about the caravan.

4. Everything happens for a reason.

I am a huge believer in this. Every person that I've met has had an influence on me in some way, shape, or form. Whether they motivated me to do something out of comfort zone or think differently about a topic.

5. Priorities are a must.

In order to be successful, you need to keep your priorities in check.

6. Don't force a relationship.

Things that aren't meant to be, aren't meant to be.

7. Mom and Dad are always right.

Even when you swear they're ruining your life.

8. Do the things you want to do.

A few years ago, I was pressured to think a certain way.

9. Stand up for yourself and what you believe in.

In high school, I would have had a heart attack if I had to stand up for myself and/or what I believe in. College has taught me that it's okay to stand up for what I believe in. I now write state and federal letters regarding immigration reform.

10. Drama doesn't matter.

High school never ends. As my mom would say, "Be like Elsa and let it go."

11. You have to work to get what you want.

Sometimes you need to indulge in some mozzarella sticks and study for 3 hours in the library to get an A on a social psychology exam.

12. Material possessions aren't everything.

Material possessions are nice. However, when it comes to the point where they're consuming your life you need to reevaluate your priorities and values.

13. Honesty is the best policy.

Sometimes the truth hurts. But, it's better than being caught in a lie down the road.

14. Give back.

I have classes Monday through Thursday. On Fridays, I like to give back to the community and teach ESL to at-risk child migrants. And, I love it! It is one of the most rewarding jobs I've ever had.

15. Falling in love isn't a choice.

You meet people when you least expect it. And, it takes you by surprise.

16. Picking out a first date outfit is harder than calculous homework.

I've been on several first dates and each one, without fail, has resulted in my closet spitting up all over my bedroom floor.

17. Trust your gut.

After I toured Cabrini University, I knew it was the school for me. I knew I would be successful in any major I chose.

18. Vote.

Voting is so important. Make a difference.

19. Knowledge is power.

My dad has been saying this to me since first grade. It wasn't until this past September when I realized what it truly means. I am currently pursing degrees in psychology and Spanish. I am using these degrees to learn more about the immigrant population and how I can help them and make a difference. That's powerful.

20. Be proud of yourself.

I think it's totally cool if you want to play a Taylor Swift song and jam out because of something you've accomplished. Go for it!
